"Shon has come to help twice with two different issues I have had with my gas lines for my fire pit. Shon is trustworthy. It took me a couple months to finally call a plumber for issue #1. When issue #2 came up (completely different item), I text him that day, and he was out 2 days later and fixed it, just nice to have someone you can trust. He just did some work at a friends house and they said the experience was the same."

The weekend before Thanksgiving my wife noticed the smell of gas coming from the cabinet next to the stove. We called the gas company who came out and confirmed that we had a leak. The gas company was unable to fix the leak and let us know we needed to have a plumber come out. In the meantime they would need to shut off the gas to the stove until it was fixed. A friend had recently used Pallan Plumbing and highly recommended that we give them a call. Shon from Pallan Plumbing replied promptly and was able to get out to our house on Tuesday. He showed up on time and was very knowledgable and professional. He quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to resolve the leak with minimal disruption to the surrounding cabinetry. Pallan Plumbing saved our Thanksgiving, and for that I highly recommend them for any plubming needs!

Experiencing These Water Heater Issues? Here’s What They Mean
Inconsistent Water Temperature
If your water doesn’t get hot enough or fluctuates between hot and cold, it could be a sign of a faulty thermostat, a failing heating element, or sediment buildup interfering with the system’s efficiency.
Discolored or Smelly Water
Rusty, brownish, or murky water often indicates tank corrosion, while foul-smelling water may be a sign of bacterial growth inside the tank. Both issues can affect water quality and may require flushing the system, replacing the anode rod, or, in severe cases, installing a new water heater.
Strange Noises from the Tank
Popping, rumbling, or banging coming from your water heater suggest excessive sediment buildup. Over time, sediment settles at the bottom of the tank, reducing efficiency and causing the system to overheat. Ignoring this issue can lead to premature wear and potential breakdowns.
Leaks Around the Water Heater
Water pooling near the unit may indicate a cracked tank, loose connections, or a faulty pressure relief valve. Even small leaks can cause significant structural damage over time, leading to mold growth, weakened flooring, or costly repairs.
Reduced Hot Water Supply
If your hot water runs out faster than usual, it may be due to failing heating elements or an aging water heater that can no longer meet household demand. Upgrading to a properly sized unit or replacing worn-out components can restore reliable hot water availability.
Higher Energy Bills
A malfunctioning or inefficient water heater can cause a noticeable increase in energy costs. When the system struggles to heat water efficiently, it consumes more energy than necessary.
Common Water Heater Problems We Fix
No Hot Water or Inconsistent Heating
- Possible Causes: A faulty thermostat, broken heating element, gas supply issues, or sediment buildup can prevent your water heater from producing consistent hot water.
- Solution: Our team performs a thorough diagnostic to identify the water heater problem, replacing defective parts, adjusting the thermostat, or flushing the system to remove sediment buildup.
Water Leaks
- Possible Causes: A corroded tank, loose pipe connections, or a faulty pressure relief valve can lead to water leaks, which, if ignored, can cause extensive damage.
- Solution: We inspect all connections, tighten loose fittings, and repair or replace faulty valves. If the tank itself is compromised, we recommend a replacement to prevent any further water heater issue.
Low Water Pressure
- Possible Causes: Sediment buildup in the pipes, a partially closed shutoff valve, or aging plumbing can restrict water flow, resulting in low water pressure.
- Solution: Our experts check for blockages, flush the system, clean or replace clogged pipes, and ensure proper installation to restore full water pressure.
Rusty or Discolored Water
- Possible Causes: A deteriorating anode rod or internal corrosion in the water heater tank can cause rusty, brownish water.
- Solution: If the issue is minor, we replace the anode rod to extend the unit’s lifespan. If severe corrosion is present, we recommend replacing the entire water heater to ensure clean, safe water.
Strange Noises (Popping, Rumbling, or Whining Sounds)
- Possible Causes: Sediment accumulation at the bottom of the tank can cause overheating and create loud popping or rumbling sounds. A failing heating element may also contribute to unusual noises.
- Solution: We drain and flush the tank to remove sediment, restoring efficiency and reducing stress on the unit. If necessary, we replace worn-out heating elements to eliminate noise and improve performance.
Water Heater Takes Too Long to Reheat
- Possible Causes: An undersized unit, a failing heating element, or a thermostat issue can cause your water heater to take longer than usual to reheat water.
- Solution: We assess whether your unit meets your household's needs and, if necessary, recommend upgrading to a higher-capacity model. If the issue is with the thermostat or heating element, we repair or replace the faulty components to restore optimal performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do water heater inspections prevent major repairs?
Routine inspections help catch small leaks, faulty components, or sediment buildup early. Addressing these minor issues with leaking water heater before they worsen can prevent expensive emergency repairs and unexpected breakdowns.
Can regular maintenance extend the lifespan of my water heater?
Yes! Flushing the tank and maintaining key components prevent wear and tear, making your water heater last longer. This delays the need for a costly water heater replacement.
Do inspections improve energy efficiency?
Absolutely. A neglected water heater has to work harder to heat water, increasing energy costs. Regular cleaning of heating elements, checking insulation, and ensuring proper system function reduce energy waste and keep bills low.
Are water heater inspections necessary for safety?
Yes, especially for gas water heaters. Proper venting and carbon monoxide checks prevent serious safety hazards. Also, pressure relief valves must be tested regularly to avoid dangerous pressure buildup.
How do inspections prevent unexpected cold showers?
Regular checkups keep your water heater running smoothly and reliably. Proactive maintenance is the way to avoid inconvenient breakdowns and costly emergency service calls.
