The weekend before Thanksgiving my wife noticed the smell of gas coming from the cabinet next to the stove. We called the gas company who came out and confirmed that we had a leak. The gas company was unable to fix the leak and let us know we needed to have a plumber come out. In the meantime they would need to shut off the gas to the stove until it was fixed. A friend had recently used Pallan Plumbing and highly recommended that we give them a call. Shon from Pallan Plumbing replied promptly and was able to get out to our house on Tuesday. He showed up on time and was very knowledgable and professional. He quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to resolve the leak with minimal disruption to the surrounding cabinetry. Pallan Plumbing saved our Thanksgiving, and for that I highly recommend them for any plubming needs!

Shon has come to help twice with two different issues I have had with my gas lines for my fire pit. Shon is trustworthy. It took me a couple months to finally call a plumber for issue #1. When issue #2 came up (completely different item), I text him that day, and he was out 2 days later and fixed it, just nice to have someone you can trust. He just did some work at a friends house and they said the experience was the same.

Residential Sump Pump Services
Residential sump pump services keep homes safe from basement flooding and water damage, especially during heavy rain and snowmelt. Our services include sump pump installation, maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs. A well-maintained sump pump prevents costly damage to your foundation, walls, stored belongings, and the rest of your home. Since homeowners often rely on these systems in areas with a high water table or poor drainage, we need to make sure the sump pump is working at 100%.

Commercial Sump Pump Services
Our commercial sump pump services focus on more complex drainage systems required for warehouses, apartment complexes, office buildings, industrial facilities, and similar. We do installation of heavy-duty sump pumps, regular inspections, and preventive maintenance. In 99% of cases, commercial systems need to manage larger volumes of water and operate under stricter regulations than residential ones. Failure in a commercial sump pump system means disaster because it leads to costly downtime, structural damage, and safety hazards.

Our Sump Pump Services Process
When you call us for sump pump service, you’re getting more than a quick fix: you’re getting a thorough, step-by-step aid built on years of plumbing experience.
Initial Assessment and Consultation
- When we arrive, we first inspect the current condition of your sump pump system, checking for visible issues and system compatibility. We also ask questions about past flooding events, pump performance, maintenance history, and other topics that we find important.
System Diagnosis and Testing
Our technicians test the float switch, motor function, discharge line, and check valve. This is how we identify hidden problems.
Final Testing and Client Walkthrough
- After the service is complete, we test the entire system under simulated flood conditions and confirm that it activates and drains correctly. We then walk you through basic operations and give tips for maintenance.
Tailored Service Plan
- Based on our findings, we recommend the most appropriate solution. Sometimes it's a minor repair or performance upgrade, but sometimes full replacement is the only reasonable decision.
Experiencing These Sump Pump Issues? Here’s What They Mean
If your sump pump is acting up, don’t ignore it!
Pump constantly running
This could signal a stuck float switch or a faulty check valve, causing the pump to run non-stop.
Unusual noises (grinding, rattling)
Grinding or rattling sounds are often caused by debris stuck in the impeller or a failing motor.
Musty odors or standing water in the pit
If you notice musty smells or standing water, it may suggest that your pump isn’t functioning properly, or there may be issues with your drainage system.
Pump doesn't turn on
When the pump fails to start, it could be due to an electrical failure, a tripped GFCI outlet, or a burned-out motor.
Short cycling (frequent on/off)
Short cycling occurs when the pump turns on and off frequently, which may indicate the pit is too small, the float switch is misaligned, or the pump itself is undersized for the job.
Visible rust or corrosion
- Rust and corrosion are common in pumps that are frequently exposed to moisture.
Water backing up into the basement
If water is backing up into your basement, this is almost certainly a serious problem such as a pump failure or a clogged discharge line.
Common Sump Pump Problems We Fix
Pump Doesn't Turn On
- Possible Causes: Tripped circuit breaker, faulty float switch, or motor burnout.
- Solution: Electrical inspection, switch replacement, or pump replacement.

Noisy Operation
- Possible Causes: Debris in the pump, worn bearings, or vibrating discharge pipe.
- Solution: Clean and flush the unit, lubricate or replace bearings, and secure or insulate piping.
Water Not Discharging Properly
- Possible Causes: Clogged discharge pipe or frozen line.
- Solution: Clear obstruction, install discharge line heater or re-route for proper drainage.
Short Cycling
- Possible Causes: Misaligned float or undersized pit.
- Solution: Adjust float mechanism or recommend pit resizing for optimal performance.
Basement Still Floods Despite Working Pump
- Possible Causes: Pump not powerful enough or drainage not routed correctly.
- Solution: Upgrade to a higher-capacity pump and reconfigure discharge routing for better flow.
Battery Backup Failure
- Possible Causes: Expired battery or poor charging system.
- Solution: Replace battery, test charging unit, and install backup alert system.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should a sump pump be professionally inspected?
It’s recommended to have your sump pump professionally inspected at least once a year, ideally before heavy rain or storm seasons.
What's the average lifespan of a sump pump system?
On average, a sump pump lasts between 7 and 10 years, depending on usage and maintenance. A well-maintained pump can last even longer, but you have to monitor its performance.
Do sump pumps require a dedicated power source?
Yes, sump pumps usually require their own dedicated power source to avoid overloading circuits.
Are water-powered sump pumps a reliable alternative to electric models?
Water-powered sump pumps can be reliable, especially in areas prone to frequent power outages. However, they rely on water pressure from your municipal supply, which is not suitable for every location or home.
Can a sump pump help reduce humidity or mold in my basement?
Sump pumps are not dehumidifiers per se, but they can indirectly help control humidity by preventing water buildup in the basement.
