The weekend before Thanksgiving my wife noticed the smell of gas coming from the cabinet next to the stove. We called the gas company who came out and confirmed that we had a leak. The gas company was unable to fix the leak and let us know we needed to have a plumber come out. In the meantime they would need to shut off the gas to the stove until it was fixed. A friend had recently used Pallan Plumbing and highly recommended that we give them a call. Shon from Pallan Plumbing replied promptly and was able to get out to our house on Tuesday. He showed up on time and was very knowledgable and professional. He quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to resolve the leak with minimal disruption to the surrounding cabinetry. Pallan Plumbing saved our Thanksgiving, and for that I highly recommend them for any plubming needs!

Shon has come to help twice with two different issues I have had with my gas lines for my fire pit. Shon is trustworthy. It took me a couple months to finally call a plumber for issue #1. When issue #2 came up (completely different item), I text him that day, and he was out 2 days later and fixed it, just nice to have someone you can trust. He just did some work at a friends house and they said the experience was the same.

Our Plumbing Leak Detection Process
When you call for plumbing leak detection, our approach is thorough and precise.
Step 1: Initial Assessment
- We start by listening to your concerns and asking detailed questions about any symptoms you've noticed, such as water stains, unusual water bills, or damp spots. This helps us understand the potential location and that’s how we start water leak detection.
Step 2: Inspection with Advanced Tools
- We bring thermal cameras and acoustic sensors to detect leaks without causing damage to your home or business. These tools allow us to see temperature variations and listen for sound patterns that indicate the presence of leaks.
Step 4: Providing Solutions
- After confirming the leak's location, we discuss your repair options, including cost-effective solutions that will restore your plumbing system. Our goal is to offer timely repairs that prevent future damage.
Step 3: Leak Location and Evaluation
- Once a leak is identified, we carefully determine its exact location. Whether it's behind walls, under flooring, or underground pipe, we provide the most accurate diagnosis.
Step 5: Post-Repair Inspection
- After the necessary repairs are made, we conduct a follow-up inspection. We take pride in leaving your property safe and leak-free, with no recurring issues.
Experiencing These Plumbing Leak Issues? Here’s What They Mean
Unexplained Increase in Water Bills
A sudden spike in your water bill without any obvious reason can indicate a hidden water leak. Even a small leak over time adds up and can be costing you hundreds of dollars annually.
Wet or Damp Spots on Walls or Floors
Damp patches or bulging areas in your walls and ceilings often signal an undetected leak inside the water system. These spots are typically caused by moisture escaping from a broken pipe or joint.
Water Stains or Mold Growth
If you notice water stains or mold appearing on walls or floors, this is a clear sign of a leak that has been present for some time.
Decreased Water Pressure
A sudden drop in water pressure throughout your home is often a result of a plumbing leak. When water escapes through a crack or break in the pipes, it reduces the flow available for your fixtures.
Sound of Running Water When Faucets Are Off
If you hear the sound of running water when no fixtures are in use, it’s a good indication that water is flowing somewhere it shouldn’t be.
Common Plumbing Leak Problems We Fix
Slab Leaks
- Possible Causes: Corroded pipes, shifting soil, or excessive water pressure.
- Solution: Slab leaks are challenging to detect since they occur beneath your home's foundation. We use leak detection tools and minimally invasive repair methods to severe structural damage.
Pipe Leaks
- Possible Causes: Aging pipes, high water pressure, or accidental damage.
- Solution: Whether it's a leak in a copper, PVC, or PEX pipe, we quickly locate the issue and provide durable repairs or pipe replacements as needed.
Underground Leaks
- Possible Causes: Soil shifts, corrosion, or tree root intrusion.
- Solution: Underground leaks require specialized detection tools, such as acoustic sensors and ground-penetrating radar. We pinpoint the leak and provide excavation-free solutions whenever possible.
Faucet and Showerhead Leaks
- Possible Causes: Worn-out washers, corroded seals, or faulty cartridge valves.
- Solution: While small leaks may seem minor, they can lead to significant water waste. Replacing washers, seals, or cartridges often resolves the issue quickly.
Toilet Leaks
- Possible Causes: Faulty flush mechanisms, a worn-out wax ring seal, or cracks in the tank.
- Solution: Whether it's a silent leak inside the tank or a visible issue around the base, we diagnose and fix toilet leaks to prevent water waste and potential floor damage.

Plumbing Leak Detection
Frequently Asked Questions
Can plumbing leak detection save me money on my water bill?
Yes, plumbing leak detection can save you money by identifying leaks early, before they escalate into more serious problems. A small, unnoticed leak can lead to wasted water, causing your water bill to rise significantly over time.
How long does it take to detect a water leak?
The time it takes to detect a plumbing leak depends on the complexity and location of the leak. For most cases, a water leak detector can take between 30 minutes and a few hours to accurately locate a leak using advanced detection technology. In some situations, like with more hidden or complex leaks, it may take longer, but we always strive to achieve a balance between efficiency and accuracy.
Is leak detection covered by my homeowner's insurance?
Leak detection is often covered by homeowner’s insurance, but it depends on your policy. Many policies cover the cost of leak detection if the leak is causing significant damage, but you may need to verify whether the initial detection service is included. It’s a good idea to check your insurance policy.
What is the difference between a slab leak and a regular pipe leak?
A slab leak occurs when a pipe beneath the concrete foundation of your home develops a leak. These leaks are often harder to detect, as they happen below the surface, and can lead to serious structural damage if left untreated. A regular pipe leak, on the other hand, typically occurs within walls or exposed piping and is easier to locate and repair, but we do both.
